A.S. Byatt, J.M. Coetzee, Adam Foulds, Hilary Mantel, Simon Mawer and Sarah Waters have been shortlisted for the 2009 Man Booker Prize for Fiction. If successful this year, South African writer Coetzee would be the first to win the prize three times.
